Dear Mª Jesús,
ResponderEliminarI am writing because I have some doubts about some of the exercises:
· a 7 - Could it be: They would get divorced ages ago if they hadn't had children? I don't catch the sense otherwise...
· b 4 & 10 - Could we replace HAD by SUPPOSE?
Many thanks in advance,
best regards,
Chloé
a7- it could also be 'They'd have got divorced ages ago if thay hadn't had young children. I'm afraid your sentence is not correct.
Eliminarb4 & 10 - you can't replace had with suppose or supposing becuse it'd require a verb: for example, Supposing the rebels hadn't surrendered, there would have been a lot more casualties = if the rebels hadn't surrendered ...
Thank you for your answer! I see why my sentence is wrong, but:
ResponderEliminar"They'd have got divorced ages ago" doesn't mean the opposite of "They wouldn’t have got divorced"?
Thanks again
